Lemme start by saying THANK YOU, to Bill Small, his family, Gary, and the Small
Country Campground for holding a superb contest!!!! Being a first time contest
held to KCBS standards, this one is definitely one to schedule!!! Started with 36
teams this year, and will probably grow to over 50 next year. They do it right down
here, and we look forward to going back down there next year!
This contest was parlayed into a mini family vacation, as we surprised the kids with
a day at Kings Dominion, and arriving at Small Country Campground a couple of
days early. The boys spent much of the week fishing, and at the pool, as Teri,
Kaiti and I prepped for the contest.
We met more great folks at this contest, including the folks from Dizzy Pigs and
Pot Belly. Talking with Dave from Pot Belly, we are going to team up to do a whole
hog cook later this year, and we're looking forward to that. Bill was always
available if something came up, as well as his family. We can't say enough about
how well the contest went from the organizing standpoint. Wish I could say the
same for my meat submissions.
